Advantages of Robotic Methods for Prostatectomy and Digestive

Not only in the field of urology, surgery with this ‘robot’ has also penetrated the Digestive field. Large wounds in the stomach are a thing of the past. Currently, with qualified surgical technology, namely robotic surgery, surgical procedures in cases of the digestive system can be carried out with minimal invasiveness.

Meanwhile, according to Dr. Reno Rudiman, MSc, SpB (K) BD, FinaCS, FICS, the robotic surgical method has just been introduced. Until now, his party has handled 165 cases (in the fields of Urology, Obstetrics, and Digestive) at Bunda Hospital. “This is a phase to strengthen ourselves. Don’t let us not have confidence, minimal complications but maximum results.

The next step after confidence is to establish cooperation with other hospitals,” hoped Dr. Reno. “There are three surgical methods. Surgery with large incisions or operations, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery. The latter only causes small incisions, the instruments move very accurately and precisely because there is a role for robots.

All three operations are effective, but in terms of the amount of bleeding and healing time, the most superior is robotic surgery,” explained Dr. Reno. With this surgical technique, diseases such as bile duct stones, pancreatic tumors, stones in the pancreas, and others, can be resolved.

With robotic surgery, it can minimize surgical wounds, make it easier to ensure bleeding, reach areas that are difficult to see, and minimize post-operative trauma. For example, when gastric bypass is to be performed, if it is done with laparoscopy, sometimes inflammation can still occur.

However, with robotic surgery, like with open surgery, we can arrange stitches using resorbable thread with extraordinary precision. “Robotic surgery is more efficient. Internal wounds are also sutured well, and the cut tissue is also closed with sutures. With robotics, it is made as small as possible. As for the pain that appears, it is due to skin wounds, not internal wounds,” he added.
